Another ode to Summer and to the end of the month! This time looking forward to the Spring/Summer 2011 collection from Edun. These easy to wear styles for both men and women are organic and sustainable where possible. Founded by Ali Hewson and her husband Bono in 2005, LVMH now owns 49% of the company. 80% of the collection is made in Africa – Tunisia, Kenya and Tanzania. Much of the cotton is produced as part of the Conservation Cotton Initiative (CCI) founded by Edun, WCS and Invisible Children. The goal of CCI is to make fair trade cotton and encourage sustainable farming in Uganda where the company is located. Vegans will do well with the clothing made of cotton as clothing is also made of wool, alpaca and silk. Color palates include grey, whites and ochres. Summer may be over yet, each of us can look forward to next year. And, Autumn is always interesting.
