environmentally friendly web hosting
How environmentally friendly is your web hosting? I myself haven’t made the switch to solar powered and wind powered web hosting. I truly wish that more companies would do this. With the proliferation of so many sites and blogs, it would be fantastic if eco-friendly web hosting would be much more viable and mainstream. Until recently, say the last 3 years finding an environmentally savvy host was challenge to say the least.
To be honest, some of the suggestions in the green movement seem either inaccessible with say the stereotypical ordinary person on the street or just plain impractical. Not so with web hosting. Isn’t it great that more and more web hosting firms are making a move towards solar powered, wind powered or geothermal hosting?
Now why haven’t I switched to a “green” hosting company? It is something that I’m seriously considering or will at least mention to my hosting companies. Good Avocado which I believe is a relative new comer sounds like a good affordable choice.
Consider the push to recycle, compost, reuse. It’s great that more companies are at least partially switching to sustainable hosting. Some web hosting services such as Blue Host and Host Papa offer carbon neutral hosting. Aiso.net is 100% solar powered. Good for them! Hopefully, the list of eco-hosting options will increase substantially in the very near future.
